Primary responsibilities:

The STEM Coordinator has a two-pronged role.  First, the coordinator works with a small committee to identify opportunities to support community STEM events that are primarily targeted towards girls and young women.  Our goal is to add value to these events by leveraging our career experiences and supporting AAUW mission and goals.  Currently our branch collaborates with the MSOE STEM center and participates in various events.

Next, the STEM committee directly supports our AAUW branch by working to promote familiarity with STEM education and careers through suggested Branch Programs, Out and About events and other opportunities as they arise.

Supporting and encouraging young women to explore high paying, STEM related careers is directly in line with the AAUW mission to support economic security and empower women.

Skills that are necessary to be successful in this position:

• Ability to coordinate and lead committee efforts.
• Communicate status of committee to branch BOD and members as needed.
• Perform outreach and build relationships with leaders of community STEM organizations.
• Work with committee to prepare for and participate in a wide variety of STEM related events.
