Photographer

Primary responsibilities:

  1. Willing to attend Branch events and take pertinent photos, especially member and speaker-oriented photos. Groups participants as able. Takes photos at each Branch event and membership meeting, if possible.
  2. Curates photos to an appropriate number for the event to properly “record the event.” (More for Style Show, Author Tea, etc. Fewer for Branch meetings, Out-and-About events, etc.)
  3. Emails photos in .jpeg format to Facebook Editor, Post-Graduate Layout Editor, and Archivist.  Obtain information from AAUW-WSM Directory.
  4. Provides the date and a brief description of the event when submitting the photos. Identify the Speaker (full name and program title) and members by first name only, if known. (Members agree to be photographed unless they ask NOT to be.)
  5. Coordinates with Archivist to assure archiving of significant photos. The Archivist maintains the library of Branch related photos, and is a valuable resource to the Photographer.

Description of the value of the Photographer Role to AAUW – WSM:

Photography of branch members and events builds credibility, loyalty, goodwill and enjoyment, not only for Members, but to others viewing the photos on social media and in the branch newsletter.  Photos also create a means to archive people and events in order to add to the history of the AAUW-WSM Branch.

Skills necessary to be successful in this position:

  1. Skilled in taking photos of individuals, groups, and candid shots of members participating in branch activities.
  2. Possess appropriate photography equipment and computer skills.
  3. Able to work well with others in posing subjects, and in coordinating with those who post and archive branch photos.
  4. Works in a timely manner, to provide photos for posting to Facebook and the Post Graduate, mindful of any deadlines.
