Out and About

Oversees the planning and execution of Out and About events

Establish a committee:  Solicit volunteers to serve on the O&A committee for the coming branch year.  As needed, put an article in the Post Graduate (PG) in April and May to solicit members for the following year and ask branch members for event ideas.  This could also be done by distributing a survey at a branch meeting or the January luncheon (highly attended).

Hold a committee meeting to discuss and select the events; this should be done after the Program Committee has determined the speakers for the coming year so that some events could be related to the speakers’ topics.  This meeting will most likely take place late July/early August.  Hold occasional meetings throughout the year to discuss the progress of coming events and just socializing with each other.  At your discretion, appoint a Co-Chair to assist with the responsibilities.

Work with the organizer(s) of each event to ensure:  1) everything is in place for the event to take place; 2) a “Save the Date” article with a brief summary of the event appears in the PG; 3) a Punchbowl invitation with specific information about the event is emailed to all members; and 4) prior to the event participants receive information regarding carpooling and when/where to meet.

Forward dates of Out and About events to website chair for inclusion in the website calendar and to the editors of PG for inclusion in its calendar.  As needed, information could also be included in branch meeting slides and eblasts.

Prepare a year-end report of Out and About activities for inclusion in the year-end branch report.
