Newsletter (Post Graduate)

The newsletter is a major communication source for keeping members informed and current on programs, outings, special interest groups, and other areas of interest to the membership.

Primary responsibilities and estimated amount of time:

  • Solicit, review and edit articles submitted by various special interest groups and leaders to create a digital newsletter for publication 8 times per year.

The newsletter is generally between 8-12 pages and is delivered in an online format with printed copies available to those without online access. It takes approximately 20 hours per month to edit the articles, design the layout, and complete the calendar with all monthly events.

Skills that you feel are necessary to be successful in this position:

  • Word processing skills in either Pages or Word
  • Proofreading and/or Graphic design interest
  • Currently the workload is divided between the content editor who is responsible for soliciting, editing and proofing articles for scheduled editions; and the layout editor who is responsible for selecting graphics and designing the layout of the scheduled editions.
  • The Layout editor is also responsible for distributing the completed newsletter via email to all members.

Members without email access receive a print copy mailed by a separate member.
